I am in the midst of launching my first side project with the hopes of validating the idea and launching a beta within the next year. This product will probably be geared towards software development teams (potentially bootcamp students too). Of course a part of the process of launching this business will be digital marketing. I know that content marketing is popular and powerful but I am wondering what the channels are that you have found successful for your SaaS company to share this content and connect with your customers / target market? Also given my potential target market what would you reccommend?
Twitter? Instagram? Facebook? etc...
Where works the best for your audience really depends on the content.
I run a platform where artists make collaborative comic strips one panel at a time: www.StripTogether.co - Since it is almost entirely visual, all of our engagement is through Instagram. We also have Twitter and Facebook accounts, but really just to claim them.
This is a fantastic point that I should have mentioned for sure. I do not quite know my market yet as I am still hashing out my idea, but it will probably be tailored towards software development teams at small to mid-sized companies (at least at first). My first thoughts are for sure Twitter and probably Instagram second, Facebook (at least for content) seems to not be as strong in 2018.
Given your answer do you run paid ads on just Instagram, all three, a combination, or none at all? And where have you seen the most success?
I don't run paid ads on any of the networks. Except for that I have directly sponsored a comic strip ( https://www.instagram.com/chrishallbeck ) a couple of times, which resulted in a rate of about $0.40/follower
gotcha, thanks for letting me know!
I work for marketing in a web design and development company in the Philippines, Symph, and I would say it's always dependent according to your target market.
We are active in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Medium, and Youtube but we don't cross-post all our content to all these channels at the same time. What we post in a certain social media channel depends on the type of content. :) (In our case, we get the most engagement from Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.)
Thanks for the detailed response Rachel!
Sure! :)
Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, also Medium!
