How would you promote an API?
I've posted my API to ProgrammableWeb and RapidAPI, and I'm browsing Stackoverflow and Quora for relevant questions. Hacker News is also on my list.
Regardless what the API is actually about, are there any other more or less obvious places I should look up?
Whoever would use the API.. or whoever would benefit from the API... tell them, wherever they hang out (offline or online).
Any reason you aren't mentioning what your API does? We could be a lot more helpful.
Sure, the API takes a web domain and returns a popularity/influence rank. What could be unusual about it compared to other similar APIs, is quite a decent coverage of 385 million domains (thanks to Common Crawl).
I presume "API users" have to be not only interested in the domain of the problem but also have to have enough tech skills to actually consider any kind of API as something useful to them. Generic API directories seemed like a good starting point for that kind of audience but to my surprise, the API directories I used to know are gone. I'd imagine there's more API directories/communities than ProgrammableWeb or RapidAPI?

I would talk to the makers of SEO browser extensions like Moz, and all the top SEO extensions in the Chrome app store. See if they would be interested?
I haven't thought about other Chrome extensions. Thanks for the suggestion.
