Survey : What do you use your initial inflow of cash for?

How do you deploy the initial dollars you make from your side project? Do you invest them in tools? outsourcing?
P.S. Do you believe in the concept of donations to keep your idea running? When do you think donations should be replaced with a pricing strategy?
For my project (www.tribefive.me for reference), I plan to use the first $x of revenue each month to cover my technical expenses (dev tools, hosting, etc). Afterwards, the next goal is to cover monthly living + food expenses. And then after that...it goes into accelerating the growth of Tribe of Five!
