Meeting with a company to try to initiate a partnership. What should I bring? (Early-stage startup)

Hello,

My business requires partnerships with cinemas. I haven't made any partnerships yet -- this is my first attempt!

I've got slides, fancy graphs, an analysis of current market problems & how my business fixes them. I can explain (and provide numbers/spreadsheets) on how I can increase their revenue, customer base, and improve PR.

I'm pretty confident in my concept, however I'm stuck on what to bring to the meeting.

Should I bring a laptop, with my slides on it? Or should I print a small A5 marketing book (with appropriate graphs/info) and just talk to them (with the booklet for reference & for them to keep).

Current plan:

  • Laptop (In case they want to see spreadsheets / statistics / graphs)
  • Sheets of graph printouts (To back-up my explanations)
  • Marketing material -- business cards, booklets, etc.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

It sounds like you have a solid plan.

If you're going to use a laptop I'd make sure you have a wireless mouse, and dongles. You never know what type of setup they may have in their conference room.

Also, if you can't get the laptop up and working within a few mins or so I'd say skip it. I've done that before where the whole presentation relied on the laptop and I couldn't get it to work. What a fail lol.

Ooh, the dongles is a good point. Completely forgot about that -- and often they don't have connections for Mac.

      Cheers!
