My 2yo business became profitable at the end of last year. Currently, it's me and another founder and we're looking to add a few advisors to help us move forward. I'm curious how you (those with advisors) found your advisors and if you have any advice.
Hi Doug , congrats on the success so far!
Might help a bit if you gave us some more info on what kind of advisors you're looking for...
Are these advisors for specific areas where you are weak? Maybe sales, marketing, recruiting etc?
Or experienced founders who can walk you through some of the harder parts of growing a business?
Either way, I strongly recommend you reach out to someone you admire and build up a relationship over time. The best advisor/mentor relationships grow organically.
One word of caution - stay well away from people who are actively looking to be advisors or who ask for payment/equity in return... There are many, many of these dubious characters out there (who talk the talk but can't walk the walk) and by the time you realise you've been conned, it will be too late!
Thanks—very helpful! I guess we need to first figure out exactly what areas we need help with.

Thanks for the rec!
