Together with a friend I am building a product which can process big amounts of productdata in godspeed.
Lots of data I gain from different sources. In this stage we use it for testing purposes mostly.
Sunday I built a crawler which was able to do crawls based on scores. As a test I used the file sharing website Volafile. I choose the site because it does a lot with JavaScript and processes a lot on the fly; there is dynamic data from chats, files & users.
For our product we have a simple Carrd site. Carrd does not allow dynamic data so I was building a service which can bring web hooks to Carrd — So you can add dynamic data to a Carrd site.
Last evening I put together my first test, the web hooks for Carrd and the dynamic crawling. I created a website for it: volalist.org and a Twitter account twitter.com/volalist. I pushed out one tweet to announce the tool and went to bed.
A few hours ago I looked at my Google Analytics and I see 19 concurrent visitors. A total of 2000 unique visitors since 12 am last night. Most visitors come from Volafile, I assume people share the link in the chat.
People can add their own link. The link is automatically checked and added to the list after some score calculating. Almost every link in the list is 18+ (explicit) material.
My first conclusion:
I am really surprised by the amount of visitors. I did not expect this.
I see potential for Volalist to grow. But how? Should I focus on it more? Do some serious changes? Or should I keep it stupid-simple the audience driven list it is right now?
At this moment Volalist does not demand any maintenance because its all automated. I only pay a few euros for the domainname, Heroku and Carrd.
How did you make a carrd webhook?
I am building a service for it. It's going to be lightweight and almost free.
Drop me your Twitter handler email if you want to be notified when finished.
