I use this method to expose a service I'm still developing. Moving it to the cloud would need preparation and time, mostly due to the data volume involved. I have that data locally, and I regenerate frequently while developing.

By sharing with a prospective client early, I can get valuable feedback without having to launch (or spend time cloudifying) yet. Hope it helps!
