Ask IH: We launched Lito three weeks ago on PH – what now? Need your advice.

this product

Hi Indie Hackers!

Two friends and I launched Lito – a web-based voice collaboration tool that lets you better collaborate with your remote co-workers through voice – three weeks ago on Product Hunt and went #4 Product of the Day.

https://www.producthunt.com/posts/lito

The initial responses were great. We got a lot of traction on the day and the following weeks. Now the signups get less each day. Even though we continuously spread the word on social media and across various platforms. We are almost back to no traffic at all. We had around 200 signups since the launch, though only a fraction (2 teams) are using Lito infrequently at the moment. I will have a call with one of the teams later today. Also, we already reached out to the people that immediately churned, but have a hard time getting any feedback on why.

We were expecting such a traffic drop and people churning. Still, it feels a bit discouraging, and we don't know what to do next. That's why we're asking for your advice.

Who has had a similar experience in the past? What should we focus on next? What do you do if you do not have a huge audience already? Is there anything we can do differently? There are so many questions in my head.

Here are screenshots of GA, our traffic from the past 30 days. The spike is the PH launch: https://app.box.com/s/vyodau35uum220zmakz5xb6zyt4ok3p1

I'm personally a bit lost at the moment. It feels like digging in the dark and I can use a little encouragement. I really appreciate all your feedback and advice on what we should focus on next.

Thanks! 🙏

Well, from what I saw many times, it's rare valuable. You would rather listen to people who really use your app than just strangers.
I checked your website and I didn't understand why I would use it instead of Skype or any other app with voice communication and screen sharing. It's probably the root of your problem - why your app?
    G'luck.

That's one of the most asked questions we get. I'm currently working on a "Why Lito" section.

With Skype, you depend on someone having to initiate a call. With Lito, people can join and leave anytime without having to wait for everyone else. If someone is late to a meeting, they join late, and you don’t need to stop the meeting to call them in.

Lito is voice only on purpose. It's the dedicated line to talk with your co-worker that's supposed to run in the background – just another tab in your browser. No video, because we want you to focus on your work, not a co-worker making a silly face.

Thanks for pointing this out. 🙏

Okay, but what about many other apps that do the same? How do you differentiate from them?

Hmmmm... why is that better than just phone calls?
Anyway my point was not just to figure out what preference your app has (because I'm not your customer) but to point you at the lack of such explanations and examples on your site.

These are good questions. Thanks appreciate that! :)

Don’t worry about getting more traffic your main focus should be to work with existing users and learning as much as you can about their needs.

Set up a slack group something like Lito-focus-group. Create a permanent invite link. Send it to your list with an email asking them if they would like to be part of shaping the future direction of Lito.

Iterate the product based on the discussions you have with customers in slack. When you feel you’re starting to get a handle on your on boarding and value prop on your home page do your next mini launch. Never stop iterating. Never stop launching.

Watch the YouTube video in my profile and forward to the end part about validation because I explain it in more detail there.

Like the slack group idea. I'll try that out immediately. Thanks!

    Hello Sammy...

After looking over your site...heres my 2 cents .

A part of your problem is your hiding the good stuff about your company , locating it in the wrong places .

    1. The app.box.com is the boringest landing page I have ever seen

    2. You guys won an award for content content collaboration platforms - yet its hiding on the 2ND PAGE of your Blog ?

    3. here you have the most recognizable name in business , who have sponsored you..and shared knowledge with you..yet you never tell me that ..Google Cloud , IBM , Microsoft and all the other well known sponsors love & respect your work ?

    4. You have an OFFICE in LONDON ?

OR..That you have been in business for 8 YEARS ?

You HAVE TO TELL users that..it says your not a 1 trick pony..that you have been around for years.

With Box as a content platform, it was easy for Walmart to build a custom app like Academy EDU specifically with a company's end goals and user demographics in mind .

I think you got confused — the topic starter asked about their product Lito: https://www.getlito.co

They just used Box to put screenshots there. Box is a known service, I doubt they would come to IH for advice 😁

lol... I think you got confused on this one. I use Box as cloud storage provider and to share the images of our Google Analytics (GA) here. I was asking about https://getlito.co Thanks anyway for the long answer. :D
