Hey guys, I've been following Indie Hackers for months and just wanted to quickly share my happiness.
I released my first product for pre-order last week. It's an ebook about hiring engineers. I also made a blog post about the topic and today it's #1 on Hacker News. I'm super excited and wanted to say thanks to IH for helping me out a lot!
Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to answer them.
Edit: Since people asked, here's the post: https://hiringengineersbook.com/post/trouble-hiring/
Hey, I read post several hours before seeing this here. Nice work. You articulated it in a way that I think would click with a lot of people used to hiring non-engineers, which is super important. You have no idea how many times I've worked with recruiters (as a hiring manager) and had to explain to them that the issue isn't that we want to screen everyone out, it's that we need to get everyone in!
I bookmarked this post for future arguments :)
Thanks so much for your feedback! I'm glad, I was trying to make it appealing to both engineers and non-engineers, so this is really nice to hear.
Congratulations on your success!
I read this article over on HN earlier today. I thought it was great, but I had no idea there was a book.
Definitely make that more obvious! Your conversion rates will go up.
Hey, thanks for your feedback! Yeah, the CTAs can definitely improved. So far I was mainly trying to push the newsletter. To be completely honest, I wasn't even expecting any sales yet, because the pre-order page is still pretty awful.
You took the words out of my mouth with your article. I'm currently in this position (i.e. buying) and relate a lot with it!
Thanks for your feedback! What's the most difficult part of hiring for you?
Congrats!
Thank you! :)

Well done! Did you get a decent number of pre-orders and newsletter sign ups out of it?
I read HN often and hiring developers is a frequent hot topic with the same predictable debates every time. I wonder how many people comment but don't read the article.
Thanks! I did! Like, nothing groundbreaking, and my conversion rate is awful (<1%). But given the fact that the book isn't finished yet and the pre-order page isn't very sexy either, I'm very happy. This is giving me a lot of motivation!
According to analytics, average time spent on the page is more than 3 minutes. So I think most people do at least skim the article.
I have no idea what is your idea on PH.... lol.
Maybe a link would be good?
Congrats @cloogshicer! Maybe include a link to the article to help people find it? :)
Thanks, sure, didn't want this to seem to much like self promotion. I've edited my post.
