Posting your statrtup on IH and hunting it on Product HHunt brings the users on your website initially like for a week or may be some weeks. then what?
How do you bring the new users and maintain the consistency in traffic?
How do you get after users on your website?
Think about it like this.
What would you do if IH and PH didn't exist?
What would be some creative ways to drive traffic?
When you're on the internet, you're usually consuming content. Why not do the opposite for your startup? Then - leverage different communities to build interaction around your content.
Get creative and deliver value. Content is king.
Try different forums, reddit, social media (twitter, tumblr, pinterest, quora etc)
Those spikes in traffic from Product Hunt or Indie Hackers are good but not sustainable. You see that big spike on the day but then comes a big drop the next day and a depressing flatline follows.
You need to work on a more constant, day to day marketing strategy. This doesn't necessarily bring huge spikes but it does bring a consistent and more reliable way of reaching targeted people every day.
First way to do this would be to start building value for your target audience. Create content that helps them, answer their real questions and so on. Publish them on a blog on your domain name. Most people are not ready to sign-up for your product on the first visit and this will help warm them up. Content will also help you get found in search engines.
Second way is to go where your audience is online and connect with them. Social media, groups, forums and other communities. Interact, answer their questions, help them out and indirectly build your reputation.
thx!
Hey Mike, We wrote about 'How to consistently drive traffic to your product' on IH a few weeks back. Probably useful. :-)

thx!
You need to leverage your momentum and continue from there.
It's normal to see a slow decrease in visitors/users after the PH boost, but you must also take into consideration than your PH post attracted A LOT of visitors, but not necessarily a lot of really interested (future) customers.
PH is a great way to get the word out there. Some blogs may talk about you/tweet about you because you are aligned with their market, but you now need to continue to reach out to members in your market (Facebook groups, forum, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc)
yup!
thx!

ID and product hunt other kind of website give you a short time users. For consistency users you have to focus on SEO . Write down good quality articles , create your product audience and make a good communication with them. I think this are some alternatives.
Thanks
What's your product?
Where do your target customers hang out online? Be active there (and be genuinely helpful) and engage with your audience.
Are there any other large sites that are relevant to your product, that you could get featured/write a guest blog post for?
