I've been searching for a job recently and I started to think about how much I would like a 4-day week.
I was almost assuming that the job would be remote (I'm looking at a range of positions, all IT-related, white-collar).
But really, a 4-day work week is important to me, too.
Maybe even more important than a remote job??
I've actually turned down at least one remote job because it was remote. Now that seems almost unthinkable, but that's where I was mentally at the time.
So, to test this 4-day work week theory, I bought a domain, put together this simple Carrd site, and was curious if even I would use it.
I had started to play with a scraper service and python/beautifulsoup/etc., but thought eh -- kind of boring -- let me try to see what this would look/operate like.
So that's the goal of this simple link/search aggregation site.
Would you use a '4-day work week' board?
Sounds cool.
Maybe start with airtable?
good idea, thx.
didn't even think of that.
you do know about tim ferris, right? i mean, he's like branded this idea...
he talks about a 4-hour work week, right?
yup! he's got a great podcast.
so, are you saying the 4-hour work week is effectively the same as a 4-day work week?
or did he start/brand the whole 4-day work week, too?
oh, shit. FUCK. my bad. i was reading one thing and thinking another. i'm wrong on ALL accounts. so sorry. lol. it's been a long weeeeeek.
i'm a fan of four hour work-week. i try to take a half-day if i can.
... (so sorry again for being so confused).... 🙇🏻♂️
no worries - i thought you might have been right b/c presumably the 4-hour was a continuation/progression of the 4-day.
but in any case, i've been confused myself, even just this week/yesterday.
i'd look up '4-hour'-something instead of '4-day'. :-D
but i've been watching the '4-day' thing take off slowly, worldwide, for the past year+.
and the whole 'shorter work week' thing is something i've paid attention to casually for years - starting with things like this 'Work Less Party' in Canada:
https://www.worklessparty.org/
don't know if it's a real thing, but i'd say i broadly agree with the idea that most white collar people are not doing real work at work -- at least, not for 40 hours a week.
neat resource, thanks! checking that out.
... i'll admit that any talk about "hours per week" is easy / hard for me...
because i ask my staff to work "reasonable hours" but as the founder i don't always do that (which makes sense).
