A Small Insight That Changed How I Think About Therapy Notes

When I started working on AI for therapists, I assumed the problem was straightforward:

Writing notes takes too long.

⸻

So the solution seemed straightforward too:
• generate better notes
• make them faster

⸻

But after talking to therapists, something else kept coming up.

⸻

Notes aren’t hard.

They’re just… exhausting.

⸻

Not because of complexity.

Because of the mental switch.

⸻

During sessions:
→ listening
→ processing
→ being present

After sessions:
→ structuring
→ summarizing
→ documenting

⸻

That transition is where the friction is.

⸻

We kept hearing:

“Once I start, it’s fine.”

⸻

That changed how I think about the product.

⸻

Instead of asking:

“How do we generate better notes?”

We started asking:

“How do we make it easier to begin?”

⸻

That shift has influenced everything since.

Still early, but this feels like one of those small insights that actually matters.
