A VC-funded startup starts competing with you...what would you do?

A new startup backed by YC in a neighboring country just launched a product that is almost identical to my bootstrapped product that I have been building for months.

They have announced that they are coming to my city soon. Should I try and raise VC money and hire a team to scale fast or just pivot?
What would you do if you were in my shoes.

Who gives a sh*t? Hustle. Grind. Outwork and outsmart.

Tip - look into PR. That can give you an edge over any competitors.

Sorry for the late reply. I actually decided to just keep going :)
Since I wrote this post I've built a small twitter community of restaurant owners (my target audience) as distribution channel. I am "launching" the app tomorrow!
Thanks very much for your great response, JKalan!

Hard to say without more details. You could look at it as validation for your idea. If there's real demand, then there should be room for competition. And even if you can't seriously compete, you might get bought if you're able to gain enough traction. Good luck!

I am actually considering it as a validation of the idea, as you suggested.
