Choosing a domain: .io or .co?

Most .com domains are usually not available anymore. What do you prefer instead?

No need to tell me that it doesn’t really matter. I know things like the quality of the product is more important, but I’m just curious what everybody thinks.

.io or .co or ... ?

I prefer .co because it's cheaper and I personally like it more. You can also look at .app or .xyz domains. There's another post on IH about this https://www.indiehackers.com/post/app-vs-io-vs-co-vs-others-best-domain-practices-in-2019-c3d8eb4b94

I'm used to thinking that ".io" is usually for some kind of a dev product (like API, platform, tools, etc) and .co is for everything else.

But clearly it's a personal opinion. Probably pick the one that sounds better if you say it out loud, if same, then the one that's cheaper.

If nothing else works, throw a coin and see if you're happy with the result. If yes, go with it, if no, go with the other one, if none works - just get both and decide later ;-)
