Cold Outreach: Calls vs Emails, or Both?

Recently attended the B2B Marketing Expo in London and asked the following question to a handful of companies that were exhibiting:

"How much success do you see from email-based cold outreach campaigns and do you accompany that with a call?"

And found that while cold emailing does work for most (albeit with subjective levels of success), accompanying it with a call bumps engagement by %'s in the double and triple digits. Anecdotally.

One person even said their company saw a ~900% increase in responses (though their emails included a personalised demo video, very cool tech!) in a two-quarter timespan. Of course, my pessimism was reluctant to believe that figure, but if there's a chance of getting even a 1/16th of the way closer to that it'd still be worth the effort, right?

Question is: Do you see more value/success in email outreach, picking up the phone, or both?

Cold calls are by far the best outreach channel.

However, we are also building a new solution for Sales folks, it's a new outreach technique that we like to call "Warm call"

Livegenie let you create alerts based on a "lead scoring", so imagine you want to target (website visitors coming from an email campaign, based in UK, spending more than 4 minutes on your website, and 2 minutes on your pricing page..) you get an alert and with all the details (Company name, size, revenue, time spent on the website..) and here come the magic: you can proactively call your visitors straight on your website with screen-sharing and cobrowsing so you can eventually make a demo and turn them from MQL to SQL on the spot without any third party video call software.

On the other hand, the widget can also be installed in-app, so you can choose your high ticket users or your free trial users and give them the possibility to reactively video call you when they are on your software so you can increase free to paying ratio and reduce churn!
