Many productivity discussions focus on motivation.
But lately I’ve been noticing something different.
A lot of tasks aren’t being avoided because they’re difficult.
They’re being avoided because they feel intimidating.
The uncertainty.
The pressure.
The feeling that there’s a huge amount to do.
The longer something sits unfinished, the larger it often becomes in our minds.
Then something funny happens.
You finally start.
And 10 minutes later, the thing that felt enormous suddenly feels manageable.
The task didn’t change.
Your relationship with the task changed.
That’s why I’m increasingly interested in helping people reduce friction before action happens.
Not through more pressure.
Not through more discipline.
But by making the first step feel approachable.
Because often the biggest obstacle isn’t effort.
It’s intimidation.
