Hey hackers,
Just a friendly reminder to take a break!
Building something from scratch is really hard, and there's nothing wrong with taking some time to rest and recharge.
Remember, building something is a marathon, not a sprint 🏃.
It can be fun to grind for a bit.
But, the long-term benefits of sticking with something overwhelm any quick gains you might be able to snatch.
Everyone is different, but everyone has limits.
The whole 'hustle' culture seem to gloss over this, but at the end of the day, we're all human, and we all need a rest now and then.
And that's ok.
Last week was a pretty big week for me. And I know myself - I tend to burn out pretty quickly. So, rather than continue to grind myself down, I decided to take some time to myself this week.
Got off twitter. Hardly worked on my app.
And I'm feeling so. much. better!
I've gone from drained and tired, to excited and energized.
And I can't wait to get back into things!
So, if you've been feeling drained, tired, anxious, or whatever, then maybe consider taking a break of your own.
Everyone is different, but I think it will probably help.
I'd love to hear your thoughts 👇
Cheer, and happy hacking.
This, it is essential these days instead of burning out by just pure hustling. Hard work is important, but so as rest. Its funny how much more motivation you get when fully rested and energized.
Fully agree!
A kind reminder: despite the fact that the website looks clean and nice, that live demo inside an iframe makes my browser stutter when I scroll over it. It looks reasonable to find a way of optimizing this.
Good luck!
hey thank you, and thanks for this feedback, it's very important to me.
would you mind dming me on twitter so I can gather some data?
thanks!
Couldn’t agree more! Just took a week vacation a bit ago and it felt so nice to forget about all the tasks, todo lists, and worries I had tied to my indie hacking life.
It was really great to take a break and I advise everyone to do the same.
fwiw, my break involved binge reading Mistborn, and I have 0 regrets.

Yeah a bit. Taking a break helps give me some perspective on things.
