Hi,
I’m building a wealth tracker that allows you to import transactions or balances from any broker, bank, or your own spreadsheet. This allows you to track and deeply analyze the historical performance of all your assets, including custom ones. By doing so, you can get a better understanding of whether your investing strategy is working as expected.
What sets it apart is end-to-end encryption of your data. This means that your data is only readable by you, and all calculations are done on your device (which makes them ultra fast!).
It’s not a hard-core, no-compromises-privacy tool. It’s closed-source, web-based and syncs with a server. Encryption is there so that both the user and us feel safer about it - we cannot peek at it, cannot sell it, it’s useless if we get hacked, etc.
My app caters to tech-savvy DIY investors, but I want to keep it accessible and user-friendly.
Now I'm considering how much to emphasize the encryption aspect. It can be part of the hero message or just mentioned as a security feature.
Most trackers have a separate section on security, but none of them use client-side-encryption, except for local apps. This situation presents either a big opportunity or a lack of interest. 🤷♂️
What do you think? Should encryption be the main or secondary feature?
It seems to me like this is b2c, right?
I think in a b2c (but also even in b2b) market, no one will see it as a feature, on the other side it is absolutey a must have.
So it is a little tricky, the value prop has to be anything else imo.
Yes, B2C.
Why do you think it's a must have?
Well imagine you have an app that does the coolest thing with your finances and then you have a security breach.. your app and your reputation is probably gone
Agreed, yet, nobody does that!
