Hey all
I'd love some feedback from any of you who have leveraged a YouTube channel into building themselves as an "authority" in their industry which leads to getting clients and potentially online students.
I started a YouTube channel and I've been posting Python coding tutorials, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo819OwIbrSJ1kwWV7vlv2g
I don't know if I'm quite positioning it correctly, or if will actually move me closer towards anything.
My thinking is; making the videos and posting them to Twitter, LinkedIn etc helps me build the image of being an "authority" in my industry even though business people may not necessarily watch them (because they're technical videos).
But at the same time I'm trying to focus the content on concepts or ideas that business people (i.e. potential clients) MAY be interested in e.g. API integrations which fetch news articles daily and put it into Google Sheets.
I figure I may be able to pick up a couple of online coaching students as well because these tutorials do focus on actually writing Python scripts, automating them, I share templates etc.
I've done online coaching in the past, essentially code reviews, we talk about computer science and tech concepts, best practices from my experience etc. But I don't see myself as wanting that to be my "thing" (a full-time coach).
But the big money would be in this leading towards picking up client projects or consulting.
This is a bit of a brain-dump but would love to hear if anyone has had experiences with this.
