For all you Expert community builders?
I want to one have some questions answered for my own selfish reason lol and two drive some discussion as to what makes communities engaged as a helpful resource for its members.
·What are the trends you are seeing within the best communities around?
·What’s lacking amongst in the available software? E.g IH is developed and designed in house, but Circle.so you are kind of limited on the UI/UX design.
·When tagging moderators, is it a more natural process or is it a search and pitch type of scenario?
·What is the ONE thing that will increase the chance of success within a community? E.g community guidelines, welcome campaign, conversation/question starters, etc…
Selfish request!: Do you find in great communities a sense of service (being helpful) to others or does it approach the line of self promotion?
A concern of mine in creating a Community-First Marketplace is bringing the niche group together in order to be helpful and resourceful as a community first, but have the space that service providers gain trust within the community (increasing/sustaining their business) without having to pitch all the time which makes a community a pain in the a$$ (think FB groups ugh 😩).

Most of the communities that I am part of except for this one have a Discord server.... That is definitely something that is growing more and more around communities and groups of people with common interests. And with Discord come giveaways, real time podcasts and bots to automate many things
Oh, that's interesting. I am in a couple of Discord groups as well but little did I know about some of the features you mention.
I feel like a problem with Discord and Slack is how quickly things can get out of place or overwhelming. Something I like about IH is the layout. It's clean and unobtrusive.
