Hey!
I'm looking to form a tight knit mastermind group with several other indie hackers, the point would be to keep the group small and focused, with people who have similar goals and can benefit from one another. We would ideally be committed to having a remote discussion once a week and would have async discussions constantly ongoing.
I think this type of setup could work really well if you get the right people together, collaborating, helping each other, offering a wide array of expertise, motivation and sanity checks along the way of building your indie venture.
If this sounds like something you're interested in then feel free to either reply to this thread or email me at grant@nespite.io
This sounds like a great idea and something I would be interested in.
@Grantlyk Cool idea. I am interested.
@TonyOnRails and I are definitely interested!
I would be interested in joining the group if you are looking for people on the business side.
Great idea man! I'd love to be involved.
We'll get to know each other better with time.
I am totally into that idea, but the details matter more than anything.
1.) Completely different tech stacks can be a problem
2.) I am less interested if there is a focus on accountability *
3.) Collaborating on projects (both open source learning experiences or commercial launches could both be great) from time to time would be an enormous plus
Yes, I see what you mean, I guess I didn't consider the tech stack thing an issue as I didn't really see this as always coding and launching products together, more advice for your own independent ventures and then potentially a couple of mixed projects later down the line once everyone is running smoothly
There is a level of accountability excepted I feel but it isn't like someone is gonna force you haha
What's your tech stack?
So I think what you are trying to start is for people who are further along in the journey. That is fine.
For me personally, a mastermind group that makes sure everyone gets to a point where things are running smoothly would be more appealing. I really like the idea of projects that start simple and get more ambitous over time.
It could make sense to create a sophisticated matching platform for mastermind groups.
The tech stack I am most comfortable with is Java EE / WildFly on the server side and a Vue.js SPA wihout SEO optimization on the client side ... but that is the first thing where I would appreciate pointers and input. Getting SEO going with a SPA for example seems tough unless you use Node.js for SSR.
I would transition to a different stack - if the full mastermind package is promising enough.
That said, I do have a few project ideas that I could realize at my current level, so I am still interested in how this develops.
In the past i've used prerender.io for SPA that I want good SEO on, I think i've mislead you if you think i'm looking for people further along in the journey, i'm looking for people mainly at the start of their journey or just a bit further on, the idea is that we give each other coaching and advice until we're at the smooth sailing point
You should use whatever stack is necessary for the job at hand, we could give you advice on what stack to use and why but I don't think we should force everyone into using the same stack or even coding together if they don't want to
What sort of founders are you looking for? Will this be accountability mastermind or idea sharing? What niche are you in? All very helpful...
At the minute i'm looking for any type of founder, I am personally on the technical side of things, but ultimately you should just be a founder, as we all aim to work building indie companies i'd expect everyone needs to be an expert in one area and then well rounded and competent in the others. Yes to accountability mastermind, maybe a little idea sharing, I don't mind sharing my ideas, This group is mainly looking for founders who are forming tech companies, but it doesn't matter if that tech company is in car rentals or if it's in games
You don't even need to be full time, but you do need to be active, for example I have a full time job at a startup and also work on side projects
Rad man. @jeffdh5 and I would be game and you can check out our journey over at www.saaspnr.io Let us know what the details are and we'd be happy to join. We are planning several mastermind trips next year and conferences so it would be fun to plan trips together as well. We're in Los Angeles and SF.
