Started building LexiLab because I kept running into word-game tools online that were slow, cluttered, or did just one thing. Wanted something fast and clean instead.
It began as a single anagram generator. Since then it's grown into six tools: a Wordle solver that ranks guesses by expected information gain, a Scrabble word finder supporting both NWL23 and Collins CSW21 dictionaries, a crossword pattern solver, a WordNet-powered synonym finder, and a rhyme finder built on the CMU pronouncing dictionary.
It's a static, multi-page site, vanilla JS, no framework, no bundler. Every page is a real HTML file that loads fast and is fully crawlable. That's been the core bet from day one: speed and mobile-friendliness over flashy features.
Currently working on a few new ideas for blog posts and tools. Happy to answer questions about the dictionary or data side of things, that's been the most interesting part to build.
It's interesting how often projects like this start with a single utility and gradually become a destination.
The transition sounds obvious in hindsight.
While it's happening, I'm not sure it always is.
