From Raspberry Pi to Operational Awareness

I built an enterprise AI awareness platform on a Raspberry Pi.

I've been building Mercury Aware — software that continuously watches signals, detects meaningful changes, and tells you what deserves attention.

But I kept thinking: why should organizational awareness live entirely in the cloud?

So I started experimenting with a Raspberry Pi as a physical Mercury node — something that can sit inside an organization, connect to local systems and sensors, observe continuously, and feed intelligence into the same awareness architecture.

That opens up some interesting possibilities: local data, edge processing, physical sensors, private networks, manufacturing environments, offices, buildings — potentially anywhere you need persistent awareness.

The interesting part isn't really the Raspberry Pi.

It's the idea that AI awareness could become infrastructure rather than another app you have to open.

Hey, really interesting product — the "awareness platform" angle for enterprise feels underserved.

I'm the founder of Zarek (https://zarek.tech/), an AI teammate for SaaS founders that handles the whole launch workflow automatically. I actually ran Mercury Aware through it as a test and here's what it produced:

Step 1 — Positioning copy (for directories like Product Hunt, BetaList)
    > "Mercury Aware monitors markets, suppliers, patents, and regulatory changes overnight and delivers explainable, decision-ready intelligence every morning — so your team acts on fresh signal, not stale dashboards."

    Step 2 — SEO blog angle (auto-drafted)
    > "Why enterprise teams miss critical supplier changes — and how continuous awareness fixes it"
    > (Full post outline, intro paragraph, and CTA generated automatically)

Step 3 — Community post for Hacker News / Reddit (channel-specific tone)
    > "Show HN: I built a platform that monitors patents, regs, and supply chain changes overnight and explains why they matter to your specific business"

Step 4 — Cold outreach snippet (for enterprise ICP)
    > "Subject: Your team probably missed 3 relevant regulatory updates this week — here's proof"

Zarek did all of this from the product description alone — positioning, copy per channel, outreach hooks, the roadmap. No templates, no prompting from me.

The shift from “another app” to persistent infrastructure is the most interesting part here. Curious which environment has produced the strongest signal so far.

IP is the strongest signal so far. Castle Fund (a deep tech investor) came to us for patent FTO analysis — whether a company they're evaluating is operating inside existing claims. That's a high-stakes, time-sensitive question where delayed awareness has real dollar consequences. The signal-to-noise ratio in IP is high because the data is structured (USPTO, PTAB, CourtListener) and the stakes are clear — wrong awareness costs you a deal or a lawsuit.

Market is producing the most immediate visible signal — you just ran a snapshot and saw breadth weakness and semiconductor resilience in real time. But market signals need confirmation cycles to become conviction. One snapshot is interesting. Three weeks of snapshots showing the same rotation pattern is tradeable intelligence.

Organizational/workforce is where the architectural bet gets most interesting — connecting calendar silence, LinkedIn updates, and recruiter activity into an executive departure risk signal. No single source tells you that story. The correlation is what creates awareness that didn't exist before.

The honest answer to "which environment" is: IP for proven signal quality, market for immediate demo value, and organizational for the biggest eventual moat — because that data doesn't exist anywhere else.

That’s a useful distinction. The IP signal especially sounds like it has some interesting implications as the system develops. If you’re open to continuing the conversation, what’s the best email to reach you at?

Thanks! I’ve just sent it over.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you have a chance.
