How a customer inquiry made me 2k

I sell a CSV to Excel automatic file conversion tool at https://www.filesculptor.com/ for $129 . My clients are usually non developers who need to treat files exported by enterprise systems.

It ain’t much, but it’s honest work

Early this year, a customer sent me a inquiry about purchasing multiple licenses and running the product on multiple servers. He wasn't sure of how many licenses he'd need and how to make a bulk purchase and pay using a purchase order. "This is the case for an enterprise license", I thought. I created a new item called FileSculptor Enterprise for about the price of 5 licenses with support for purchase order and sent the link to him.

And they bought it! Great! End of story? Not so fast. We have to always keep in mind that on the internet 1% of people are writers and 99% are readers. This means that for every customer that writes you an e-mail, there might be other 99 who had the same question and didn't bother to write.

I decided to change my site to include the enterprise license option. Since then I made so far three extra sales of enterprise licenses! Which means a very welcome extra 2k in a pandemic year! So keep in mind that few customers get in touch. When they do get in touch, think how you can change your product to also serve the dozens of customers who didn't!
