How was your launch?
I launched a status page product on Product Hunt today.
So far (after a few hours, prior to US waking up), that stats are not too impressive, but it is still ranked 8th, then dropped down.
UPDATED STATS:
- 7 customers (free trials)
- 186 visitors (from IH,PH)
- 17 upvotes
Things I think I've learned:
- You need to build an audience before you launch
- Having a list of PH users would be useful (new users might get a penalty)
- Launching/posting early AM US time seems to work quite well as it avoids the busiest times
- Traffic is quite low when you don't hit No.1
- Adding a video might help?

I haven't done a Show HN as yet, but am wondering about doing that later today. I haven't bothered with reddit as it's pretty anti self-promotion and negative in general, particularly for simple tools. This was something of an experiment to see how the launch process works, so I'm hoping to improve for next time, and am interested in how others do this.
I'll update this post later in the day when I see how things go.
