I know what I want, I don't know how to build it...

I am a commercial real estate broker in the SF Bay Area. I'm a nerd. Very analytical. Very observant. Very efficient (or so I think.) I have been in real estate for 15 years. My degree is in the science of real estate development. For the last 10 years I've been building a commercial real estate system in my head from my work experience.

I worked for a private equity real estate fund. I was it's 11th employee. Eventually it got swallowed up by a HUGE institutional investor. I watched the CIO build a system to buy assets which I was responsible for feeding data. It was essentially a real estate black box. The amazing part was they took in so much raw data and used about 20% of it.

After the experience I started as a commercial real estate broker. I applied some of the same tactics I learned from the private equity experience to build out something similar but for prospecting, but my technical know-how is limited.

In the last 8 years as a broker I've added to my ideal system by way of learning about various technologies that would enable me to "filter the noise" and distill down viable contact targets. I have no idea how to build this at all. This site was suggested to me by one of my tenants as a place to meet people who may be able to help me bring my vision to life. The interesting thing is that there is practical commercial applications for the system but I really don't care. I'm greedy and want it all for myself to give me a leg up against my competition ;-P. 2020 has been good to me, oddly enough. I finally have the funds to make this real. I have all of the pieces (ERD, Datasets, APIs, Vendors, News feeds, etc), I don't know how to put them together or if the pieces are the right ones for the job.

I would really like to build this out for a very small geography and make sure there is a dialed in proof-of-concept before scaling it up. The ultimate goal would be to build the Bloomberg of real estate trading; proprietary software for brokerage and principal investments, scalable into any geography in the United States. I need some help.

It's simple and complex at the same time. Perhaps we should talk. Shoot me your twitter/email address and I'll shoot you a direct message.

Hi @Thumper, after a decade of automating digital infrastructure and building distributed reconciliation systems I think I could help with technical skills and entrepreneurial mindset. I am super interested in real estate and tried to educate myself about it via certain projects. Let's partner up and kick ass. Check my Twitter and message me there if you think this here might be a fit. All the best, Tim.

Hi Thumper, I built a few real estate software systems before for prospecting deals. Im probably not available to help code it out at the moment, but happy to chat and provide some feedback or guidance on how to build what you want. My email is in my profile

Hey @Thumper, I'd love to chat. I used to work in financial trading so I'm very familiar with the idea of making the Bloomberg for real estate.

Later on, I met a ton of real estate investors and built and sold a company within real estate. Would love to hear more. jeremy.thiesen1@gmail.com

Great description! I'd love to be a part of it, but probably not best placed as I'm in the UK and maxed-out at the moment. I've built a number of start-ups from scratch to deployed, most recently one used by an NBA team.

If I can be useful in a high-level technical role, please feel free to contact me.

Good luck, and welcome to Indie Hackers. I constantly see programmers on here looking to partner with someone like yourself. I think you’ve come to the right place. Good luck with your search.
