I'm working on a fun way to write JavaScript automations. Free t-shirt if you try it.

Build an app, add the Claim T-Shirt action, and run it. Should be easy(ish). https://www.withtrivial.com/how-to/free-t-shirt-offer

We made Trivial for people that can write a little code and want to run custom scripts.

Maybe you took a learn-to-code course or a 101 class in college. Chapter 1 goes fine, and then you hit a brick wall of dependency management, cryptic syntax errors, and security issues. Way more than you wanted to deal with.

Or maybe you're a developer, and because you've mastered all of that, you know first-hand what a pain it is. You just want a place to quickly write the script that's in your head.

You might use Trivial to:

  • Send GitHub activity to Slack, filtering on the updates you care about
  • Send Shopify orders to Airtable to build a profitability report
  • Send t-shirt orders to your warehouse :)

Free, no credit card required:

Had a play around with your app, here's a few notes:

    • I'm a programmer, and I'm pretty happy writing code so I'd say I might not be in your target audience
    • http://help.trivialapps.io/ seems to be 404ing
    • I created an app, added in some actions and ran it. It seemed to work pretty well, but my app doesn't really do anything useful.
    • Wasn't sure how to use the if action, so I tried to read the docs but they're 404ing.
    • Overall it seems well made but I'm not sure what I'd use it for.

Hey, thanks for checking it out and the feedback. Didn't realize the Help got disconnected at some point, thank you.

We're watching the analytics roll in, and so far the majority are in exactly in your situation. So clearly you are right, and we are not done :)

As we dogfood, we're finding it useful to connect disparate services and automate data flows. For example, under the hood of our Claim Free Shirt action is a Trivial app that:

      1. Adds the order to Airtable
      2. Emails the user a confirmation (Mailgun API)
      3. Posts to our internal Slack

We've also got the webhook URL of an app plugged into GitHub, so non-eng teammates can see an overview in Slack.

We're running this on Reddit as a promoted post: https://www.reddit.com/user/CyclicScience/comments/szrbgw/hey_reddit_were_working_on_a_fun_way_to_write/

I've found these "free t-shirt" offers to bring CAC down significantly compared to ads without them, happy to go deeper on that if anyone is curious.
