Indie business starting process?

To starting a indie business, like any other types of business, you need

  • a domain
  • landing page
  • email (with your custom domain)
  • logo
  • Google analytics(maybe?)

Then what? Talk to your potential customers?

Where do you go from here?

I'd say talk to potential customers first. You don't necessarily need a domain, website, email, etc

Your potential customers will set the tone and you can get insights if your product idea has a market willing to buy. If they want to buy, then you build it (website, domain, etc). At the beginning, do it manually in order to know more about your customers. Then you can automate the repeatable stuff.

The Mom Test book is a great way to ask the right questions to potential users and see what your potential users really need

Yeah, The Mom Test is a great book! I enjoyed listening to the podcast episode between Rob and Courtlan.

P.S. Actually I like this episode so much that I dedicated a whole section to talk about it in my newsletter.

@ppalevsky Haha Indie hackers building for indie hackers. It is a type of community dog-fooding. I like the idea.

Are you aware of any folks in IH are building tools / services / starter kit for indie businesses? What do you think of what they have built?
