Indie Hackers putting off our customers

So this is interesting - received an email from a potential customer this morning asking how "big" we are.

He had Googled the company name (Growform) and seen the IndieHackers profile - which says: 1.) It's run by a solo founder and 2.) Only makes $500 MRR with 20 paying customers.

I explained the upside - I'm fanatical about support and make sure we rapidly build the features customers are asking for. It's a real company in every sense of the word, with registered offices in London.

He went for a more established form builder - can't win them all!

There's no way I'd hide our profile - I'm proud of being an Indie Hacker, and have got huge value from the community. I've made amazing connections here and received awesome advice.

I believe in the old adage "if one customer mentions it, 10 are probably thinking about it", so it did concern me a little.

For the moment, I've hidden the revenue figure, to make it a click or two deeper for future searchers. Probably a bit of a knee-jerk reaction, and will re-enable soon.

Curious if anyone else has experienced something similar?

    Thanks for sharing this.

You can't hide who you are anymore.

I think the time where you could pretend to be a larger company than you are is over.

I have seen a lot of large companies work with tiny ones.

Size doesn't matter in this area haha.

    What matters is TRUST.

    Does the prospect trust you?

Trust comes from the relationship you've built with that prospect and nothing else.

They don't bail because you're too small.

They bail because you haven't marketed enough to them.

Be present, be seen. Market the hell out of your brand.

Show them you're worthy of their trust by putting out content.

    Show them who you are.

We only buy from people/brands we know and trust.

    Hope this helps! :)
