Hey hackers! I'm Michael, creator of Logo Package Express — a logo exporting extension for Adobe Illustrator.

Basically every graphic designer who makes logos understands that at the end of any logo design project, they're going to need to export a ton of logo files for their clients. It can take over an hour depending on how many variations there are of the logo and how thorough you are.

My extension automates the whole process by taking a final logo and automatically generating every variation the client needs. Then it exports those variations in every file type, names the files, and automatically sorts them into an easy to use folder structure for the client.

All this happens in 2–3 minutes.

I launched the MVP version of the product to a whopping audience of 36 email list subscribers in October of 2012. I made 2 sales on launch day and another 2 over the next three months.

I had pretty much given up.

Then someone reached out asking to connect me with some designers with large audiences in return for a free copy of the product. I was not in a position to be greedy, so I agreed.

I was introduced to my first major affiliate, I did $1,000 in sales pretty quickly after that and then decided to make a proper extension (plugin) for Illustrator.

I hired a developer and launched in May 2019. In just over 8 months I've done $100,000 in sales and almost 1,400 designers have installed the extension!

I tried out paid ads, but the ROI was crap. My main moneymaker is forging solid relationships with affiliates.

Hey fellow IH'ers, I'm Matt, founder of Basin - a powerful, easy-to-configure form backend that enables designers and developers to accept submissions to their web forms without writing a single line of server side code.

Basin has been in the wild for just over 2 years now, and honestly our journey to $10K+ ARR has been mostly organic. We've done what most startups do these days -- get hunted on Product Hunt, attempt to build a social community and chime in on industry related posts and conversations, send cold emails to potential customers who might see value in what we're building, etc. There hasn't been a formula for us -- just steady month-over-month growth since launch. We can't complain :)

I am! I run the Sales for Founders course - teaching founders just enough sales to find their first customers and grow a profitable business to $10k in MRR.

I was also recently on episode 123 of the IH podcast, if you'd like to hear more about how I got started with the course and did $20k+ in presales...
