Is anyone earning from Wordpress plugins?

What's your average monthly profit?
Doing about $1000/year from my seasonal plugins. It's really hard to fight with the competition as it's over saturated.
Show us your plugin(s)? :-)
Sure. http://www.wpmaniax.com
Good stuff! But yeah, when it's seasonal, sales are minimal :-)
I'm earning around $3,000/month from plugins so yes, it's possible. However, the plugin market is supersaturated so I think Shopify or other platforms might indeed yield better results.
Hey, checked you out and great stuff! You earn $3000/mo from 4 plugins?
That's pretty neat. How did you manage to do so?
That's correct :-). I'm not sure what the cause is of this success actually! I think the livechat on my website + delivering super fast support definitely plays a role. There are so many abandoned plugins/agencies out there that people appreciate someone who is going above & beyond in terms of support.
Hey, a couple more questions.
If I develop plugins for Wordpress, will it be usable for Woocommerce too? Since both use PHP, is there a separate development process for Wordpress and woocommerce? Sorry, if this is a stupid question. I am very new to this.
They both have their own API which you can use. the WooCommerce API is of course different from the WordPress core API so it's not because you create a plugin on WordPress ,that it's automatically usable with WooCommerce.
They both use PHP, that's true - so the syntax will be similar, but the API you use will be different.

$4k per month for 4 WooCommerce plugins. CxThemes on CodeCanyon
Matt from posts about his earnings and process building his affiliate link WP plugin - https://www.moneylab.co/earnist/
Just read his post about it. Super cool!
Depends on the plugin. Finding a niche and solving it well can net great profits in the plugin game. Although, I think Shopify and other e-commerce platforms might be more profitable these days.
About 2k with peaks of 3k $/mo since 2015 with my WordPress galleries.
I'm making around €1500/month basically from two plugins. Sales have been pretty stable for a couple of years now. Both plugins extend other WordPress plugins (WooCommerce and Gravity Forms), and provide API integrations with third party SaaS products.
Mind sharing the plugins? :)
Sure. The website is all Dutch since all the plugins provide integrations with local Dutch services. https://extensiontree.com/nl/
I do a bit yeah. Just started a pre-order for this one. Nowadays, I feel people love simple plugins that do what they need to do. No fluff.
There are a lot of people making a lot of money on WP plugins. It's a constantly expanding market, with now over 30% of the web running on WP. If anyone tells you otherwise, they don't know WordPress or it's community very well. That said, I'm sure some verticals and niches have stiff competition. But it really comes down to marketing, SEO, good sales page design, and getting in front of the right people. There's TONS of opportunity out there, and it's growing more all the time.
I meant to mention, then forgot, that Freemuis has lots of great articles on how to market your plugin, such as this one that was in my Twitter feed today: https://freemius.com/blog/seo-on-new-plugin-repository/
They're also a great platform for selling and managing licenses for your plugin, so you don't have to reinvent that part. They have excellent stats, opt-in for marketing, and handle VAT and GDPR compliance.
I'm still getting started. Last month was $310 from sales + $360 for custom features!

Hey, sure! Mind sharing your plugins?
Here you go!

Are you currently working on plugins?
Sorry to dig you more, just some questions if you don't mind.
How did you market it? Did you have a following? Did you launch on producthunt? Is White wp your most successful plugin?
White WP is young. It's currently gaining a user base on the WordPress repo. 100+ active users. The pro version hasn't been marketed or launched anywhere yet. There a few more things I want to get right before I post it on ProductHunt.
The sales I mentioned has been for Checkout Countdown for WooCommerce, it's on my other site. Those customers came from Google.
edit - I have no following :)
I know plenty of folks who make money from their WordPress plugins, but the ones who make the most tend to be the ones who broaden their reach by creating versions for other platforms and/or services as well. Don't rule out creating versions for Shopify, Joomla, and whatever else your plugin (or plugin idea) makes sense for.
And there are plenty of lesser-known CMS's out there that could use a boost. Get in there too and avoid frustration of dealing with the wall-to-wall plugins that litter the WordPress ecosystem.

A ton. It's wide open. Would be cool to build some Gutenberg stuff with React 🤔
