I made this post on HN last Tuesday and it did decently well https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24205037. There have been a few more verticals I wanted to test out so I changed up the post a bit and reposted last week but all those posts got flagged.
Did I just get lucky on my first post or is there such a thing as posting too often? How often should I wait before reposting? I'm part of the YC sprint so I am trying to get as much traction as possible the next 3 weeks. Would be great if I could replicate the first post.
I can see a bunch of reasons for that:
I posted a video a while back and it did decently but I did notice my video this time got flagged. IDK why though. Guess the community just doesn't like video-format posts.
It does sound like spam - didn't realize it would sound like a scam if you didn't know what a miracle berry was. Good news is I'm rebranding.
You don't understand the audiences of IH / HN / PH - "diet hacking", at least with your approach, doesn't really fit well alongside the tech products. It's not a criticism of your product at all, but the message may not resonate with many. Take Soylent as an example; it's positioned so that you can skip cooking and actual eating, something which many designers & developer would appreciate as they try to survive long days and nights of hacking. What would a good story be for this audience along that line?
Good point. Unfortunately I don't know of similar blogs for my space XD
I like the idea you proposed and I'll need to think of it. Just spitballing to get your feedback but 1) Healthy diet is important for cognition so this helps you eat things you wouldn't otherwise 2) It saves you time in the morning because it doesn't require stirring and a single serving works for ALL of your food 3) You can make some sugar-free cocktails and it gets rid of the burn of alcohol for a dope night with the bois. 4) Hacking your tastebuds sounds pretty cool?
Consider the vitamin versus painkiller analogy for your product. Let's say the majority of people know they need to eat healthy, why don't they? (eating vitamins) Because fast food and sweet treats and convenient and loaded with ingredients to give quick dopamine hits. (taking painkillers).
If I was in your shoes I would ditch the word "miracle", depending on the target market since it's divisive. The name of the tree it comes from is awesome and a great branding name could be spun from that.
The Soylent crowd might be into this, and I remembered the DIY Soylent site;
https://www.completefoods.co/
I would also jump on the Keto crowd since this is another way to reduce sugar and carbs.
And most importantly, get people to ditch crappy milk chocolate LOL. >70% dark chocolate is so much better!
Thanks! Those pitches were just for the tech people on this site. Lots of ways to spin this and the key is that it makes healthy food taste as good as junk food (dopamine hit). I'm trying keto, other diets, diabetics, picky eaters, etc but not sure how to market that here or where I can target those people (not reddit, they don't allow self promotion).
