Hi! I came up with a few product ideas, and I am struggling to figure out how to validate them. Any good books, tutorials, articles you would recommend? Thank you!
I'm not a big of Amy Hoy on a personal level, but she's undeniably one of the best people out there at explaining how to build/sell successful products. Check out some of her stuff on how to get started, here.
My favourite article on the subject is this classic by Paul Graham (cofounder of YC). It's definitely written with 'real' startups in mind, but the advice is valid/useful for indie hackers as well.
Thank you - huge fan of Paul Graham myself. Will look into Amy Hoy, as I've read Paul in and out.
That essay put into words the exact thing that has frustrated me about so many threads on IH:
I followed his advise and thought about problems to solve, and problems I might have and solve for myself. But the issue is I need to somehow understand if other people have the same problems AND are willing to pay. For what I have in mind I did a bit searching, and I can see people complaining about similar issues I want to solve, but from there to actually figuring out if they would pay is a long way and I need to understand better how to figure it out.
What's a problem you would pay to solve?
Start there!
See there is a bit of an issue. Working with tech, I usually find open source tools or build my own. But in building my own I need to figure out if others have the same issue - basically this is how I see validation. Do other people need what I need? Or is there something I am taking for granted that other people might not be aware of, know how to use, or is too complex for them?
Hey Flaviu, I'v done quite a few YouTube videos about going from idea to validated (and revenue generating) startup.
Some are high-level and others are screenshare and step-by-step. Hope you find some of them helpful!

Thanks for this - will look into it.
Probably you just need to talk to your potential customer and see how you could help them.
Indeed - but I am building a SaaS product, and my customers might not be nearby. But it is an important step.
Look into Steve Blank's work
Thank you - will do.
You can find some pretty good stuff on youtube under the validate product keyword. I would skip the google campus one - huge waste of time.
There's this Dan Martell guy who has some decent ideas on the topic, also Gary V and Stefan James. None of them are revolutionary approaches, but if you have zero knowledge on how to do this, it will help you for sure.
A good book would be Validating Product Ideas, and depending on the industry you are targeting, the book Launch might suit you. That said, the latter one has very contrasting reviews so I guess it depends heavily on what your're into.
Thank you. My thoughts exactly about the Google one. Will look into the others.
