Podcast Stuck at 50 Monthly Listeners

I've been recording podcast episodes with my twin for about half a year now and I have been doing my best to spread the word on all social medias/online communities but can't grow in monthly listeners. It's been static around 50, which is crazy cool but I feel the urge to reflect and make a change to not get the same results.

My one concern that I have is that my podcast isn't "niche" enough. Or maybe I am just not able to create a succinct one-liner on what my show is about and that's super important. Just take a look at the pod description and please leave any feedback you have!

Sound quality is good. It's a little meandering and loose-chatty for me, but I suspect as someone with kids, too little time and too many podcasts to listen to - i'm probably not your audience?

Do you think the struggle to grow and spread the word is because you are not reaching people outside your own networks on social media? I had a couple of thoughts if this might be the issue:

    • invite a guest on from another podcast (one where you suspect you'd have an audience overlap)
    • appear on someone else's podcast
    • engage the audience of 50 you have to find out more about them. In that 50, some will love it - pay attention to them and find ways to get them to evangalise your podcast
    • marketing! Search for articles with lists of podcasts in your genre/niche, reach out to them and try to get added to the lists (they will be looking for an excuse to update the pages to keep them fresh)
    • advertise on FB or insta to people who match your audience (if you have your own website/landing page you can capture audience data over time using a FB pixel, which will really help when you want to run ads).
    • find out what other podcasts your listeners are listening to. Then find out where those people hang out online.

Thanks so much for this feedback and your time listening and typing this all out! :) For the first two bullets, we are definitely on the search for another pod where we would mutually benefit and create good content. The problem with this is that we don't have much to offer someone else unless they have a small follower count as well. I do believe in our content though (not saying that it's not valuable because of the low count, but it would take extra effort on someone else's end to research my pod to see what I'm about with a low audience).

I love the idea of engaging with my audience so we started a discord to interact with our 50 listeners and so far half of them have joined.

I will look for lists of small pods in my niche. I haven't seen this piece of feedback before and this sounds super valuable!

      Thanks!

    Hi ,

    1. I think 1st after the intro music you need to summarize what the episode is about.
      What's your br

2.I don't really know what your podcast is 3 mins into it

Ann marie Cross says find your message before your mic.
    What's your message.
Indiehackers podcaster helps us build profitable internet businesses(the message is clear before the episode starts)

    1. Why are you speaking over each other at 3:32 ?
you guys need to have a synergy.

    2. Consider repurposing your podcast into different formats to reach new audiences
      we do that at amplifymypodcast.com

I love the intro music; great and the cover art.

    MY 2 cents

Thank you so much for the feedback and your time! In the next podcast we recorded we gave an intro and in future pods, I will save this clip (or a better version) and just edit it into the beginning for all. I really like that idea and it's so obvious. Also, I agree about #3, I spoke with my co-host and we will be better about that. Just signed up for your beta because this would be a great product and am excited to try it out!
