Roast my landing page: Yupdates

I recently launched Yupdates and would like to hear what you think of the landing page @ https://www.yupdates.com/

The main audience is software professionals (not necessarily developers) and I'm having trouble identifying a good tagline/intro especially. The current "Fast feeds" is accurate but generic. "Feeds for programmers" is too specific (not quite accurate) but might grab more people's attention?

    Hey Tim,

    Michael from Lightning UX here.

Firstly congrats on your launch, the site in general looks great and follows a lot of best practices.

I think your gut feeling about the hero section is correct. For me, this was really the only problem area of the page. Generally, most people will hit your hero and bounce, it’s the same for most sites, so making a good impression there is super important.

Here’s what I would suggest (I viewed the site on mobile):

    1. Clear up the navigation into a drop-down option. At the moment it cascades multiple options down onto the hero and initially overwhelms the user.
    2. “Fast feeds” doesn’t make sense to me unless I know what your product is already, which most people landing there won’t. I’d suggest something like: “All of your developer content in one simple feed”. And then you can be a bit more specific in the paragraph beneath.
    3. There’s no CTA in the hero, you should add the “Try it free” option in there.
    4. Add social proof to your hero. How many devs already use/love it? How much content are they subscribing to? Etc.

Hope that helps, I’m happy to discuss it with you more if you like, or help you with the design.

    Best,

    Michael
