Sales Tax with Stripe Checkout

Hi everyone!

I am looking for a proper solution to handle sales tax and VAT via Stripe. I know that Stripe has quite a bit of documentation on this (https://stripe.com/en-de/tax) but I still can't make it work in practice.

I have taxation enabled and set my country to Germany. I use the checkout pages and for the checkout session I pass a customer that has their billing address set, so it should have that already. automatic_tax is enabled as well, of course.

VAT works perfectly and is displayed correctly depending on the country.

However, the checkout page never displays the sales tax for US addresses, it is always 0. For example Los Angeles has a sales tax rate of 9.5% which surely needs to appear there? Neither having the address on the customer nor choosing United States and zip code 90007 (for LA) on the checkout page does work.

Does anyone have the Stripe running with sales tax and VAT implemented and can give me an example?

Thanks!

The sales tax should be calculated already on the check-out page depending on the state, IP, and zipcode. Managing all those SaaS sales taxes/VAT/GST can be a lot to juggle.

But if you are looking for a solution, you'd better contact PayPro Global and forget about this nightmare.
