Server considerations for resource intensive websites
Hello, I'm developing a website similar to Udemy, but for the developers where you can spin up docker containers to run your code and perhaps even various command-line tools. I was wondering would it be possible to estimate the hosting cost for such a service. I would like to get some input from other people experienced in hosting resource-intensive websites.
Maybe some of you can list your website in the comments along with the total monthly running cost.
When you say "resource-intensive" where do you anticipate this to come from? I think the largest cost of running a Udemy-like site will be the bandwidth- not compute cycles.
The 3 big cloud providers will sting you really hard for traffic so I would be inclined to look towards a provider such as Digitial Ocean or Linode.
