My shower thought today: isn't being a low code/no code startup a spectrum, rather than a black and white choice?
For example, there are startups that build everything in low/no code tools on one end of the spectrum.
Then there are ones more in the middle somewhere. For example, we do everything we possibly can in no/low code stuff so my co-founder (the technical one) can focus on the core product. That means our onboard process, our analytics, even some features we are validating are done using Zapier, Airtable, Notion, etc.
Is there a further end of this spectrum? Are there startups that exist anymore that don't use any no/low code tools? Does this even make sense in this day and age?
There are still many people who prefer to code most of their automations inspite of having many alternatives. Mostly developers who feel its easy to code components.
I am in a similar nocode space working on https://nocodesheets.carrd.co - No Code website builder using Google Sheets

Common sense is that people should get the best of the both worlds.
If it's easier to do it without code - do it with no-code.
If it's easier to code it - by all means, go right ahead.
It's definitely not supposed to be black&white (and it makes 0 sense to do it just because), so I'm 100% with ya on this one.
