When you're hiring your first employees, do you look to bring on "heroes" who can do it all? Or do you look for consistent individuals who can handle a single specific role?
In my experience, the best early employees are the consistent ones, not the people looking to make a big impression.
I find that people trying to be heroic are more likely to take unnecessary risks. Those risks can pay off, but more often than not they don’t.
Is this similar to your experience, or would you take the heroic leaders over the consistent members?
