URL-prefix vs Domain property in Search Console and Analytics

Hi guys, I have a question.
I'm migrating Pixela from pixela.xyz into pixela.io. In Google Search Console, I have two properties: www and blog.pixela.xyz. I'd like to know if it's better off to have url-prefix or domain-based properties.
I'd like to follow the best practices as part of the migration process.
