Share your value learning from building your LANDING PAGE / HOME PAGE for your startup/business/project in 2022
What's the most valuable thing you've learned from creating a landing page?
Be as specific as possible!
👉 My learnings:
The most common things to fix before launching your landing page that I have learned from 2022:
The number one issue I noticed when analyzing a landing page is the inability to focus on the customer.
👉 Most times the problem identified by your landing page is not “painful” enough.
That happens when in your header or subheader the problem (and its solution) you’ve identified is too generic.
Being generic also means that somewhere in this first section, you don’t explain how your product is different from the other offerings in the market, that means you’ve not identified your unique selling point.
“We’re not just another agency”
“The best tool to write blog post”
“Better task management”
👉 Talk to your audience to really understand what their pain points truly are.
Ask yourself: what would a potential customer do if your product didn’t exist.
If you can, try not to say what your product does. Explain what positive outcome they will get by using it.
“Buy now”, “Shop now”, “Try now”
👉 These are very basic CTAs (Call To Actions), they work - but you can do better.
But a CTA can run longer, too, such as “Signup and never miss a post.”
You don’t have to keep it short - you’re not writing ads.
👉 You can add numbers to your CTA: “Register - 1400+ already did”
You can add urgency to your CTA: “Buy now - price increase in 2 weeks”
You can add a promise to your CTA: “Sign up and start saving”
The formula for a good hero section of your landing page hasn’t changed in a while.
Talk about the problems the customer is facing and explain how you solve them with benefits
👉 Show, don’t tell - as much as possible.
That means you can use a video, a clear screenshot of your product, even a mock-up.
As long as it’s a useful piece of information that helps your audience visualize how your solution helps them.
Add testimonials, people always forget them - I wrote a whole blog post on testimonials if you want to learn more.
This seems to be one of the most recurring issues with landing pages - the lack of good testimonials (photo + name + company + highlight keywords in the actual testimonial)
Finally, reduce sign-up friction as much as possible, by removing incertitude.
Write it on the HERO section so people know what to expect after clicking your CTA!
That's it - these are my most influential learnings!
Let's friggin' grow together!!!
