I have 2 ways people that people see the sign up form, either by arriving at the landing page directly, or by seeing it at the bottom of an article I've posted.

The home page converts at about 12% (which seems to match your 10% figure), but people reading an article only convert 1% of the time.

I suppose that's probably to be expected though, as there's clear intent to sign up when you visit the home page, compared to reading an article you found on google.
