Async Dev
On-demand senior .NET/Azure engineer for SaaS teams
Hey IH,
I'm a senior .NET engineer working fully remote. At some point I started noticing a pattern — I'd sit on a call, listen for 30 minutes, and realize the whole thing could've been three sentences in Slack. You know that meme: "I just asked a question and somehow it became a 45-minute meeting." That was my life.
So I started writing things down instead. Task updates, blockers, decisions — short written messages. Not because I hate people on calls. Because most of the time a call is just a slower, un-searchable version of what could be a paragraph.
Turns out, when you write things down instead of saying them on a call, interesting things happen.
Your updates become documentation for free. Six months later, when someone asks "why did we change the auth flow?" — the answer is sitting in a thread. Not lost in someone's memory of a Tuesday standup. The CTO I work with told me it's the most useful paper trail any dev has left behind.
AI tools changed investigation, not coding. Everyone assumes AI makes you write code faster. The real gain is in understanding — root cause analysis, tracing unfamiliar code, figuring out why something breaks. Coding was never the bottleneck. Understanding the problem was.
Patterns port across domains. After years of .NET/Azure work, I see the same shapes repeating. An event processing bug in one system looks remarkably similar to one in a completely different domain. A CMS permission issue is a CMS permission issue. This is why senior devs don't need long onboarding.
Flat pricing aligns incentives. Hourly billing incentivizes slow work — even subconsciously. A flat monthly rate means I'm motivated to ship fast, and the CTO I work with is motivated to send clear requirements. Nobody tracks hours.
The PR is the status report. No slide decks. No weekly demos. I open a PR, it gets reviewed, it gets merged. If someone asks "what happened this week?" — the git history is the answer.
I'm packaging this into asyncdev.ai — senior .NET/Azure capacity on your backlog, written-only, flat monthly rate. Early days, still figuring things out.
Happy to answer questions about going async or anything else.
About
SaaS CTOs need senior .NET capacity but hiring takes months. Async Dev gives them a senior engineer on a monthly subscription. No recruitment, no onboarding, no standups. Just weekly PRs shipped from their backlog.
