October 1, 2026 Two weeks ago it was 59 members and nobody paying. Now it's 97 and still nobody paying. Here's where they came from.

Said I'd come back with numbers, good or bad, so here they are.

Members: 59 then, 97 now. 26 joined this week.

Paying: still zero. Three on free trials, two of those are my own growth team, so really one.

Where they came from: 17 in one week from a launch directory. About 20 from my two growth people messaging folks one at a time. A few from Google and the other directories. The rest found us direct.

The bit that hurts: of the 54 who joined in the last 30 days, 8 finished their profile and 6 actually did something. Most of the directory lot were gone in three minutes. Sign up, look around, leave.

So the directory gave me the biggest number and the fewest who stayed. The one at a time people gave me fewer, but they're the ones still here.

41 of the 97 were on this week. Not dead, just small.

Product Hunt next week. I'll post how that goes too. Still owe the day two numbers for welcomed vs not welcomed, that's coming from the team's log the week after.

September 19, 2026 Built a LinkedIn alternative solo in three years with no coding background. 59 members, nobody paying yet. What I've learned so far.

Started DOER in November 2022 because I wanted a professional network where what you do is the only credential. No ads, no algorithm, zero commission on what members earn. Launched June 2026. Three months in: 59 members, two on paid trials, nobody paying yet, and a two person growth team on a four week trial. Biggest lesson so far is that signups mean nothing. Getting people to come back on day two is the whole game, and the only thing that has moved that number is a real person welcoming each new member within a day. Happy to answer anything.

Honestly no, not yet. Sixty members, so any split I gave you would be a handful of people. What I can see is that nearly everyone who came back on day two had a message from a real person on day one. Whether that is cause or coincidence I can't tell from numbers this small. I'm not a growth person so I brought in a two person growth team last week, both wanted in because of what DOER is. Every new member gets a personal welcome now and we're tracking day two return properly. I'll post the real numbers here in a few weeks, good or bad.

The welcome effect is the strongest signal here. Have you measured how much day-two return changes for members who get the personal welcome versus those who don’t?
