I’m a software developer by trade. I’m most experienced in doing front-end related tasks, but anything JavaScript/node.js related I’m pleased, if not eager, to attempt. I’ve been focusing on getting better on the back-end all around these last few years, building crud type web apps. I’ve also spent time doing analytics and scrapes with languages like Python and Go. I’ve dabbled a bit in blockchain related things, from building blockchain features, to working on smart contracts in Ethereum with Solidity. I guess that overall I’m another geek that loves to code. I’ve been at it off and on for about 7-8 years now. My experience is more so with high level, garbage collected languages, but I’m confident I can dive in and figure out most anything at this point (though I have little to no desire to jump into something like assembly or machine code, if it’s something that’ll help reach the end goal, I’ll do whatever it takes to get a task done.)

As to why I’ve joined this apparently awesome community..

I’ve had too many ideas pass me by over the years due to thinking I lacked competence. It’s not even that I exactly feel, that it’s a competence issue, more so it’s that I lack traditional education, and thus some of the confidence, ties, and network that come with it.

There’s been too many times already where I’ve came up with a sweet idea, only to let time pass while sitting on my hands, making excuses such as, ‘I think the idea is great, but there’s no way I’d ever get funding’ etc, only to see my idea done successfully months to even several years later. This most recent time it happened a couple months ago, I decided enough is enough. It burned me up because it could have been pulled off with minimal funding. I just got nervous, doubted myself handling the business side of things, and fell asleep at the wheel. Now the company that’s doing the idea 2-3 years later is blowing up. Those days are no more!

I’m eager and ready to learn from an awesome community of like minded individuals. I’m most looking forward to building something awesome that I believe in with a team of people, whether my own idea or someone else’s (lets be real, we’ll/we’d probably pivot on said idea no less than 15 times to where the end result may he something awesome that we never initially envisioned.)

The hope is to learn as much as possible, collaborate with others, and build some cool sh... stuff. 😬
