New Project: LaptopHits.com
Quick introduction.
My name is Marcin, I'm from Poland. I prepare to search for a job as a RoR developer, but as I have a big coding gap in my CV (last 10 years I was doing poker related stuff - playing, running poker forum, some poker commentary) I decided to do some real life projects to build my GitHub portfolio, and to have something to show.
LaptopHits.com is my first project.
The idea came to me when two of my friends in a short time period asked me what laptop I recommend them to buy. Usually I ask for price range, display size, brand preferences , then read some popular forums to collect recommended models. As probably it's common approach, I decided to create a website for this. I wanted it to collect all laptop mentions from all online discussions. But for MVP I decided discussions are Reddit comments and laptop mentions are Amazon links.
What do you think about it ?

Hey Marcin, good luck with the idea. I just wanted to say that I'm loving the un-designed look of the site. Text is black, links are blue, that's it. Information-wise it would be great to be able to actually read through the comments below the item, instead of having to click into reddit.

Hey ! It depends on your tastes but I personally like this kind of list styling.
I also like how this extension render the HN link list.
Moreover, I think you can fetch product data to make it look nicer =)

The idea is good, you have multiple possibilities to extend your idea like supporting other links (main laptop manufacturers maybe) or Internationalization ! But I think you should add some CSS to the website ! It kind of hurt my eyes right now :p
