In case you missed it, Stripe's new "Starting a real business" guide is gold
Stripe released a guide (basically content marketing for Atlas) that's full of great insights for formation, tax, bookkeeping, accounting and those types of day-to-day operational concerns when starting a business.
I'm reading through this now, and so far it's excellent! I like the very approachable and casual way that's written, and the fact that it quickly teaches you what you need to know from the ground up.
EDIT: One downside to this guide for the indie hacking audience is that much of its advice focuses on C Corps as opposed to LLCs, which is usually only useful if you plan to raise tons of money from investors.
For those who don't know, by the way, I interviewed Patrick McKenzie (the author of this guide) for Indie Hackers way back in August. Maybe I can get him on the podcast, or get him to do an AMA on the forum.
I think it's likely that Patrick is making the case for LLCs to the Atlas team. They have said that LLCs are a planned addition.
Has anyone here used Atlas already?
I haven't used Atlas but I did use Clerky to do my formation and initial grants. While not directly related, Stripe - who manage Atlas - went through YC and the Clerky team are the goto for YC companies who need to do US formation and stock grants.
I expect their processes are very similar with Atlas providing extra hand-holding by helping one to setup a US based business bank account.

It's a hassle but thankfully the W8ben is easy to complete. I have had to do them for years when consulting with US clients.
