Micro-fundraisers and parental engagement to solve school fundraising challenge

this product

I've been working on this app for a couple months now. The idea is to help my kids school engage parents more effectively and raise funds all year round.

Here's a preview of the initial release: https://www.task-a-thon.com/press/

Would love to hear your valuable feedback.

Interesting niche here, @mohapsat. Is Paypal the ONLY option to pass the funding from parent to school? Or could it be integrated in to your site more, rather than a “new tab, then come back and check this box” action?

Honestly, if there were some tweaks here and there, I’d be really interested in pitching this solution to my own son’s school.

Reach out to me when you have a chance - I see huge potential in this

Hey @ruff, thanks for you excellent observation and feedback.

I totally agree and was planning to migrate payments to stripe connect, and make the payments more tightly integrated into the site once I get some adoption.

Here're a few reasons I used Paypal for the first cut:

      1. Paypal has a dedicated School Fundraising and School Payment Solution which seemed to fit the context well.
      2. PayPal and Stripe charge the same basic fee: 2.9% + 30c per transaction, per my understanding.
      3. Stripe Connect charges a fixed charge monthly per marketplace account (school's and parents being on either end of the transaction). While this is minimal at first, this could add up overtime if more school PTAs sign up.

I am, in fact using stripe to let school (parents or teachers) unlock premium features, purely for site upkeep.

      • What other tweaks did you have in mind?
      • May i suggest you sign up as a parent or a teacher using the [SAMPLE] Little Angels Elementary School to play around with the application and provide some suggestions.

      Thanks again!
