Help: Looking for advice on infrastructure setup
Hello, Hackers!
I'm interested in sending a weekly newsletter containing a list of links and would like the links to also be published to a Website. Something very similar to Sidebar: www.sidebar.io
I'm adept at HTML and CSS but I'm not much more technical than that from a coding perspective. I'm willing to pay someone to get the site setup but would like to avoid ongoing tech support or maintenance if possible and would like to avoid Wordpress.
I've heard good things about Gatsby and Contentful.
Does anyone have recommendations for a good infrastructure set up?

Going for a static website is a good idea, you will have a super fast website that you can host on netlify for free.
The Contentful integration with gatsby is super easy to setup but you will have to use React. You can use Hugo but the Contentful integration looks harder to integrate.

Hi Jess! Gatsby is a great choice if you're comfortable with React. I wouldn't look further. However, if your skills span HTML & CSS, I would recommend Hugo.

Just going to tag on to @golangnews comment and say that I've read that for purely content-based, new sites like blogs, you want to consider posting 70% of your content on a high traffic site (medium or reddit as suggested) and 30% of your content to your own site, until you reach a stage of critical mass where you can reverse the ratio.
For a curation site, an altered strategy similar to this may help you build traffic. I love the idea of fostering a community around your curated articles as well. Kenny's got a great point here.
Ah yeah, Discourse looks great. I'd like to have a dedicated site.
And yes, I'd be interested in a white-label solution for what you describe; I haven't looked around much to see if one exists, someone mentioned Curated: https://curated.co/
I'm not sure how much I'd pay, not heaps initially as my site wouldn't be making any money but I would and do pay for quality products that I love or make my life easier.
Curated is great. I used it for about a year and it does exactly what youre asking for. The newsletter is converted to a publicly accessible page with your links and whatever commentary and image you choose to put in the newsletter.

I currently use Mailchimp, it's great. I was hoping to fully sync publishing the links to the site and to the newsletter simultaneously (I'm not sure if that's possible) but copying and pasting is easy as well.
