[Show IH] Launching in 2 Weeks. Critique my Site

https://www.barksntails.com

Hi IHers..I'm planning to launch my premium dog newsletter at the start of November.

I'm sure it's not the best I can do but I'd rather ship it now than wait forever (First bought the domain in 2015. Just started working on it start of this month).

If you could take a couple of minutes and let me know what you think of it, I'll appreciate. Any ideas or questions, please let me know.

My first impression was that its obviously something related to dogs, but not sure exactly what.

Maybe your h1 can communicate that better somehow?
I didn't really get what the site was for exactly with the "its a doggy world" copy.
I would try to think of a succinct phrase that conveys what I can expect to get from this site or service.

Thanks @freedrull. This is something I hadn't noticed. I mean, I see the concept in my head but I need to make it obvious for my target market. I will work on the copy

I've found difficult to read the header text. It mixes with the background picture. Plus, this header doesn't tell me too much about the service.

I've kept reading a little bit more, and I've read something about a newsletter, discounts and a shop. I've scrolled more to found a section with almost the same information I've just read above.

On the pricing section is where I've started to connect the dots (that's too far). I think that your website is selling a service for dog owners that includes a newsletter and discounts. Is it something like an Amazon Prime for dog owners?

I think the problem is that I have to connect the dots for myself, the website should do that work for me. I have to make an effort to figure out what's this about (and you can lose potential customers because of that. Not everybody is going to make that effort). Try to be less emotional in your header text, and be more functional. This guide can help you: https://www.julian.com/guide/growth/landing-pages

(I'm sorry If I've sound too harsh. I'm from Spain, English isn't my main language, and sometimes I use harsh expressions without realizing it)

    Good luck! :)

Scrolling doesn't work at all for me on a Macbook trackpad and Apple mouse :(

It looks nice but my mouse wheel doesn't work to scroll it :(

The site took a really long time to load. If I wasn't clicking through from IH, I would have certainly bounced.

I noticed the same behavior. What could be beneficial is running it through the page speed test on Google. Also, I was trying to find out why someone would pay for the premium newsletter. It doesn't give me any highlights as to what I'm going to get.

Hey Mark, I just tested the site on Google speed test and its awfully slow. I will follow their recommendations to improve the site speed.

-For the premium option, I have highlighted the perks on the payment table comparing the Free and Premium membership options.

Perhaps I should highlight the premium benefits more on the homepage?

I would consider that for sure. Doing so would really give a person the incentive to scroll down. Right now, the subscribe link isn't going to anything yet so I didn't realize that I could find the pricing below.

Thanks...Will probably move it to a VPS on launch. It's on a shared server

Your site requires 4.2mb to load and the scripts in the head section are blocking which means all those files have to load first before the site will even try to render. Probably worth shifting them to the footer and seeing if that helps. It doesn't appear to be the transfer speed that is the problem so shared server vs VPS probably won't matter for you.

Something on your site also breaks scrolling.

Thank you Shawn. WIll check the scripts.
